On November 29, employees of the department took part in the symposium of the school psychological counseling center of the district of Unna for employees of all types of schools.

The focus of the symposium was the question of how to deal with pupils' experiences of discrimination and their consequences, but above all how to prevent and counter exclusion.

In a two-hour workshop entitled "Are you disabled or what? Discrimination through ableism at school", Jil Brambrink, Katharina Dieckmann, Claudia Gottwald and Michelle Grengel (from different research units of the department) discussed these questions and solution strategies with the participants in the context of empowerment, power sharing and self-reflection.

The participants concluded that there is an urgent need for further education and training on the part of teachers and that there must be room to work with students on this topic at school.
